US tax consultancy Andersen Global launches Kenya operations

American tax advisory company, Andersen Global, has officially started its Kenya operations as it targets the growing list of transnational firms with local subsidiaries and foreign direct investment in East Africa.
Andersen first entered the Kenyan market early this year through a partnership with Nexus Business Advisory, a local tax consultancy founded by former Head of Tax and Partner at KPMG East Africa Philip Muema.
Andersen Global chairman and chief executive, Mark Vorsatz, said the Nairobi office will act as a regional hub for its operations – with Mr Muema as the managing partner.
“The launch of Andersen name and trade mark in East Africa is the next step in expanding and strengthening our presence in this key market,” Mr Vorsatz said, adding that Mr Muema has also joined Andersen Global’s Advisory Council, the body that addresses the evolving needs of the global organisation.
Mr Muema welcomed Andersen’s entry into East Africa, saying it would offer individuals and corporations operating in the region solid tax and business solutions.
“Our doors are open to provide seamless tax and business solutions to all our clients regardless of location,” Mr. Muema said.
The range of services that Andersen offers includes transfer pricing and customs.
Nexus has been handling Andersen Global’s business in Kenya over the past year following the signing of a memorandum of understanding on October 1, 2017.
The Kenyan operation was then admitted as a full member firm of Andersen Global, in April 2018 – culminating in the official launch.
